OUR MISSION

We strive to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual and physical challenges.

Our activities promote socialization and integration into the mainstream culture of our community.

OUR PLEDGE

Our Board and members pledge to treat all individuals equally, and to follow all the terms of the “Disability Awareness/People First Language Pledge”.

We support Special Needs Education, campership, and cultural and sporting experiences We work with other organizations to serve and enhance the lives of our fellow citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

PANDEMIC CONSIDERATIONS AND RESUMPTION OF OUR PROGRAMS.

Covid restrictions have been with us since February of 2020, with a reprieve in the Spring of 2021 allowing some “face to face“ meetings and events. Our Annual Picnic in August 2021 at Camp Courant was a spirited success. This Winter, Omicron variant concerns have paused some in-person meetings and participation as sports spectators. As we plan ahead to emerge safely from the pandemic, please visit our CALENDAR for updates.

On June 16th, 2021. Charles Dobrow gave his ANNUAL PRESIDENTIAL SUMMARY ADDRESS. This reviewed how PROBUS navigated the virus challenges to meetings, and how we networked with other groups. We applied for and received grant support from the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. We depend also on individual donations, so necessary to SUPPORT OUR MISSION. Your thoughtful gift can make a difference!

Engaging with new volunteers as well as qualified candidates to expand our Board is a high priority. To learn more, INQUIRE.
