Greater Hartford Probus encourages you to learn more about us, and then consider joining our team of committed Volunteers and Members supporting our mission and values, exploring ways to serve the IDD community (Intellectually & Developmentally Disabled).

We are pledged to treat these individuals with respect and dignity, as persons deserving  of engaging in cultural activities, and socialization in our community. We will join with like-minded groups to support these goals. We seek a diverse membership and Board of different racial and ethnic backgrounds that accurately reflects the diversity of the population we serve.

PROBUS HAS THREE LEVELS OF INVOLVEMENT

VOLUNTEERS:  Individuals follow our planned activities on our website, and volunteer at selected activities of their choice. They may attend some monthly meetings (virtual or in person) when programs are presented in their interest area. They may be hands- on volunteers at outings, trips, sporting events, or picnics, cooking, serving or hosting guests. Time involvement varies, is often modest, and periodic.

MEMBERS: Individuals have a higher degree of involvement, and attend monthly  membership meetings , join one or more committees to develop programs, interact with leadership to report on work in progress, and many attend multiple functions and events Probus undertakes for the IDD community.

LEADERSHIP: The Board of Directors meet monthly and plan programs and priorities for the organization, to fulfill its mission. They are responsible for the annual budget, fundraising, recruitment, and strategic planning. This requires a greater time commitment than the two previous categories. Board members are expected to be actively engaged in multiple Probus initiatives. They are all volunteers.

CONTACT US: To volunteer, or arrange to be contacted by a PROBUS member, send Email to Hartfordprobus@gmail.com.  Please include full name, address/ZIP code, and phone number (optional) if you wish a call.
